Are you OCD?

Signs you might be OCD:

. You own every piece of apparel your affiliate sells
. You find yourself counting reps while hand washing the dishes
. You constantly use metaphors about CrossFit to make a point about non-CrossFit related topics
. You have an entire drawer filled with Lulu Lemon gear (and/or other various sports wear)
. You have every CrossFit app ever made downloaded to your iPhone (even if you don’t actively use them)
. You incorporate CrossFit lingo into everyday speech (Example: “Man, I totally ate that burger for time” or “Today, I PR’ed my morning┬ácommute”)

I don’t think it’s fair to actual OCD sufferers, which by the way stands for Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, that you make jokes about OCD. It is these jokes that reduces the seriousness of the mental illness that is OCD and doesn’t help eradicate the stigma that surrounds it. Please see this article: http://www.ocduk.org/combatting-the-myth-about-ocd that makes an excellent point that I think it would be wise that you learn. I’ve also written a blog about this exact kind of thing: http://ocdsurvivor.wordpress.com/2012/07/26/ocd-is-not-a-joke/

I know what Obsessive Compulsive Disorder stands for because I’ve dealt with it first hand in my family, and as such, I understand that is a very real and serious mental illness. Please don’t assume I’m ignorant because I’m making a joke about CrossFit, NOT Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

This is a great piece. It’s funny ‘cuz it’s true. :-)

Allyn, are you admitting to a drawer full of Lulu & CrossFit 310 gear? Can we do more things together that involve wearing cute street clothing?

How about: “Your non-Crossfit friends don’t know what you’re talking about most of the time…” ;-)

I just took it out. It sounded a bit awkward

Ha, I have friends that are OCD like you…I think the commitment is impressive!

Like me?! Whatever gave you the idea that I’m OCD? ;) But on a serious note, you’re right. The commitment is impressive, and I’ve never seen anything like it until now.
