Remember: We’re In This Together

13 Jan

There are so many reasons I love CrossFit, but the one thing that always sticks out in my mind the most is the camaraderie, or as our coach says:

“Fellowship Forged in Suffering”

The only thing I can think to compare it to would be a pack of soldiers at war together; there’s something about the willingness to delve deep into a place of pain, a place of complete uncertainty, that creates an unconditional bond, as each person wins (or sometimes just survives) the battle within themselves, together. You can’t buy that. You can’t even fake it.

So the next time you feel alone in your suffering (in or out of the box), whether it’s emotional, physical or psychological, remember there are plenty more like you that would gladly suffer beside you and pull you up when you’re down, because we’re truly in this together.

Although I don’t participate in crossfit, I can easily understand where you are coming from. Having gone through basic training many (many) years ago, I remember very well how you come to rely on your buddy. Even through all the pain and frustration and demands, at the end of the day, you survive and celebrate that survival!
You have found a place, a family, and a purpose/goal.

    Keep going!

Yes, it’s exactly that. Celebrating the survival, or in some cases (like when I got my first RX in a WOD) a total win!

As always, you inspire me. I may not do something as monumental as crossfit, but the motivation, the dedication that you possess is something to strive for!

Your post today really spoke to me. I have felt that my Crossfit journey has not been the smoothest, mostly due to my own weakness in follow through. But it is nice to be reminded why I keep coming back to our box, regardless of how infrequently that is as of late. Thanks Miss Red 🙂

Jeannie, I’m SO glad you’re at 310. You may struggle with your journey at times (I know I do!), but your energy is incomparable, and can be felt….and I for one recognize and appreciate what you bring to the box. I’m always here for a gentle reminder if you need one. 🙂
